DESCRIPTION:*Note: actual end time may vary.* \n “The Colors on My Mind
” is a show of recent paintings by Blake Edison. Inspired by the rhythmi
c and lyrical qualities of soul music\, Edison creates colorful gestural a
bstractions that hold complexity and radiate joy.&nbsp\; Seemingly both im
provised and delicately considered\, each work is embedded with delightful
surprises–opaque smudges of muted pastel satisfyingly harmonize with fl
uorescent passages of acrylic paint\, as a density of marks unexpectedly d
ances with wide open expanses of raw canvas.&nbsp\; Leaving each work unti
tled\, Edison allows these visual poems to speak for themselves. The exhib
ition The Colors on My Mind will be open in Union South's Gallery 1308&nbs
p\; from April 12th to May 24th of 2024. Galleries are open from 8am -10pm
 \, Monday through Sunday.&nbsp\;\n\nURL: https://union.wisc.edu/events-and

DESCRIPTION:Johnny Chimes is a jambalaya of rolling Southern blues and boog
 ie-woogie piano\, finger-style country guitar picking and sweet soul-singi
ng. At heart\, Chimes is a songwriter—seamlessly weaving his original co
mpositions into a set along with his own unmistakable “cover” versions
of blues\, country and New Orleans R&amp\;B favorites The melodies he wri
tes reach across musical genres. The lyrics speak to the sadness and beaut
y and sometimes\, even humor\, of where he’s been. He's got the retro co
ol vibe which not only makes the whiskey taste better\, but also makes you
r troubles seem like one good blues song away from vanishing into the nigh
