The group’s songs blend Lucches i’s love of 1970s New York City rock with Benign’s knack for hooky alt ernative pop. In early 2021\, Lucchesi approached Benign about putting mus ic to a batch of lyrics that Lucchesi said were "pouring out of me." By th e end of that year\, the duo had completed nearly two dozen songs. They qu ickly turned their attention to assembling a live band. With the lineup so lidified\, rehearsals began in January of 2022. The chemistry was immediat e and joyous—a rarity not lost on six veteran musicians who'd played in too many bands to count over the years. L&\;TF made their live debut in May of 2022.
