DESCRIPTION:Motherfolk: Serious songs from goofy people. That’s what you
can expect from diverse\, Midwest Indie-rockers\, Motherfolk. What started
out as a writing project among two college friends turned into a fully re
alized band untethered to genres\, with an endlessly bright future. Compos
ed of Bobby Paver and Nathan Dickerson on vocals and guitar\, bassist Clay
ton Allender\, drummer Ethan Wescott\, and Karlie Dickerson on keys Mother
folk are not only bandmates\, but best friends. The band’s close-knit re
lationship allows each member to be their most authentic self\, leaving ev
ery ounce of their souls to be poured into each song and high-energy perfo
rmance. Despite their light-hearted\, groovy-rock sound Motherfolk is dedi
cated to creating a much deeper connection with their fans. They don’t s
hy away from the taboo\, taking on heavy topicswith a light heart. The res
ults provide us with music you can dance to\, whose impact is felt long af
ter the song has ended. The band’s quirky friendship and social media po
sts originally drew fans in\, but their connection to the music kept those
fans around. Since their formation Motherfolk has been on a steady upward
trajectory\, amassing well over 5 million Spotify streams on their three
studio albums and selling out shows while touring heavily across the Unite
d States. While COVID-19 halted the band’s year of touring plans\, Mothe
rfolk spent the year hard at work\, creating and self-producing new music
and they came out anew. Late summer 2021 will invigorate fans with new sin
gles adorning the most refreshing and versatile Motherfolk sound to date\,
leading up to a fall EP release. This next chapter is slated to be the mo
st exciting one yet\, don’t miss it! LINE: An indie pop band unafraid to
stretch and play with labels\, LINE weaves singer-songwriter sensibilitie
s with multigenre arrangements. Vocalist Maddie Batzli works with bandmate
s Austin Lynch\, Esther Chun\, and other collaborators to create songs tha
 t include multi-part harmonies\, intricate slap basslines\, folk instrumen
tation\, and electronic synth tracks. LINE’s songs seek to span a wide r
ange of emotion\, often within a single verse\, with personal reflection\,
queer love\, and social commentary showing up as common themes. As a quee
r band\, LINE’s willingness to explore paradoxes extends to playful stag
e aesthetics and lyrics centering philosophical questions\, at once campy
and achingly sincere. By sharing the vulnerability of holding multiple tru
ths at once\, LINE aims to invite listeners to live more deeply into their
own experiences. From daring to acknowledge (and contain) multitudes come
s much needed space for possibility\, rare in a time when pessimism and ho
pe can often feel like a binary. &nbsp\;\n\nCONTACT: music@union.wisc.edu\
