DESCRIPTION:Characterizing Deep Convective Cloud Properties and their Energ
etic Impacts in Satellite Observations. Juliet Pilewskie\, AOS graduate st
udent\, will be defending her PhD thesis. Her talk explores the relations
hips between deep convective cloud and energetic properties applied to our
present-day understanding of how convection fundamentally contributes to
the Earth's energy budget: by 1) vertically transporting energy and mass t
o the upper troposphere\, 2) balancing clear-sky radiative cooling through
latent heating\, and 3) modulating the top-of-atmospheric radiative energ
 y budget.\n\nCONTACT: 890-1652\, communications@aos.wisc.edu\n\nONLINE: ht
