DESCRIPTION:Master's Defense: Investigating the PREFIRE intersections. In p
olar regions\, thermal emissions at wavelengths between 15 and 100 μm dom
inate outgoing longwave radiation\, peaking at over 60% in Antarctica duri
ng austral winter. Much of the polar energy budget can therefore be charac
terized by emissions within this spectral range\, which is taken to be the
far-infrared (FIR). The Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experime
nt (PREFIRE) will pioneer global moderate-resolution FIR measurements from
space by leveraging nascent satellite technology.\n\nCONTACT: 262-2828\,
