DESCRIPTION:"Were 13\,500-year-old Clovis Fluted Points Silver Bullets to P
roboscideans?" by Dr. Metin Eren\, Professor of Archaeology\, Kent State U
niversity. In this talk\, Dr. Metin I. Eren will present his research on t
he efficacy of North American Ice Age Weaponry. Archaeologists have tradit
ionally assumed Pleistocene-aged Clovis fluted stone points to be 'mammoth
killers.' However\, recent experimental findings\, as well as ethnographi
c research\, do not support that assumption. This new understanding of the
Clovis point has ramifications for understanding the long-alleged human i
nvolvement in North American proboscidean extinctions.\n\nCONTACT: 262-286
