 n. Distinctive long carnelian beads were produced exclusively in highly sp
 ecialized workshops of the Indus Civilization (2600-1900 BCE) in Pakistan 
 and Western India. The technology used to produce these unique beads will 
 be presented along with evidence for their local use in the Indus cities a
 nd towns. Many of these beads were also traded to Iran and Mesopotamia\, w
 here they were highly prized by the elites and eventually buried in royal
