DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Energy Seminar Series: Christopher Timmins\, Profes
sor of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics. Buildings are responsible for
approximately 40% of US energy use (80% in cities)\, and incorporating en
ergy efficient building techniques is viewed as an important strategy for
mitigating carbon emissions. There is\, however\, a perception that develo
pers and homeowners fail to undertake privately profitable investments in
energy efficiency when they are readily available. We will discuss the lea
ding theories for why this might happen and policies to encourage energy e
 fficient practices.\n\nCONTACT: spwilliams@wisc.edu\n\nURL: https://energy
